Lake Aoki is one of Japan's purest lakes, fed by snow-melt, rain and natural spring-water bubbling from below. In the Spring Cherry Blossoms are abundant, in the Summer the lake is alive with greenery, birds and fish and is beautiful for swimming, and fireflies are plentiful in the evenings. In Autumn the color of the leaves is one of Japan's treasures. Paddle a 2 (or 3 person if you have a child in the center) Canadian Canoe around this beautiful lake...take it slow and enjoy the views or focus on more advanced paddling techniques to prepare for guiding one of these dynamic canoes down-river.

Canadian Voyageur Canoe Picnic Tour

Enjoy a relaxing paddle in a 10 person, Voyageur canoe across the pristine waters of Lake Aokiko, one of Japan's cleanest lakes, to the northern shores where guides will prepare a delicious picnic lunch. The Voyageur canoes are very stable and high side walls will keep you dry as you gently paddle and take in breath taking views of Japan's Northern Alps. You will see multiple species of water foul, fish, small forest creatures and the possibility of seeing bears and Kamoshika that have come down from the mountains to drink from the crystal waters of Aokiko (Blue Tree Lake). This tour is perfect for families with young children, seniors and those just looking for a refreshing afternoon out in nature.

Multi-Day Downriver Tour

For those who have always wanted to navigate their own canoe down a river, here is your chance. Let Evergreen’s professional instructors teach you what you need to know to have an unforgettable river experience. After one day of lake instruction we will have you piloting your own canoe down one of Nagano’s largest rivers-- the Sai Gawa on day two.
