Hakuba Station area has a restaurant or two that are cheap and popular with locals and expat residents alike, and there are a few cafes, the mandatory McDonalds and some sports shops nearby. Buses leave regularly especially in Winter and taxi's are always parked outside. If you have time to spare while waiting for a bus/train or just want to check out the station area check out The Boarding Co...looking out from the station at the McDonalds, cross the road and head right, the shop is 100 metres down on the left.
Our main base is located on the slopes of Happo-one Skifield 100 metres up from the bottom of the "Kokusai" chairlift. If you're heading directly to us and are taking a taxi, give them our address and/or say "Kokusai Lodge" and you shouldn't have any problems...it's a 5 minute taxi ride. Those of you with stiff legs who wanna shake it out and walk...head out of the station and carry on straight up the road...on a clear day you'll see the mountains getting closer...a 20 min walk and you'll come to an intersection with a petrol station on the left and a Lawson convenience store on the right...its another 15 minute walk from there.
